Audio chats will be released in future updates.

To enhance user account security, WhatsApp will launch three new security features – Account Protect, Device Verification and Automatic Security Codes – in the coming months.

Just a day after announcing the ‘Stay Safe with WhatsApp’ campaign, the Meta-owned messaging platform has announced three new security-focused features to protect users’ accounts.

new features; Namely, Account Protect, Device Verification, and Automatic Security Codes, all set to roll out in the coming months.

New features WhatsApp will add in the coming months:

account protect

Now, if you want to switch to a new device, WhatsApp, in a coming update, may ask you to approve the switch on your old device – giving you an extra layer of security.

device verification

The feature protects users from on-device malware attacks and is reportedly built into the security package and requires no effort from the user. Ergo, you can use WhatsApp just like you were doing and the app will automatically take care of your account.

automatic security code

With automatic security codes, WhatsApp has made it easy for users to be sure that their chats are encrypted and secure. Users can now quickly check for a secure connection by tapping on the Encryption tab, which you can find under the contact’s information.

This is done through a process called “key transparency”. And, it’ll allow you to automatically verify that you have a secure connection. What this means for you is that when you click on the Encryption tab, you’ll immediately be able to verify that your personal conversations is safe,” said WhatsApp.
