only recently India Batsman Mithali Raj takes off her shoes after a long time in international cricket. He tweeted about his decision hours before India’s scheduled team selection for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. The 39-year-old, who has represented India in over 200 ODIs, remained the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket. Nonetheless, he had his fair share of controversies during the 2018 T20Is. World Cup semi-final against England where he found himself on the bench. Things went sour between him and coach Romesh Powar before the BCCI stepped in.

In a conversation with India Today, she revealed how she really felt.

“When you find yourself in the midst of chaos, you can’t really think straight because you’re feeling all kinds of emotions, even though you want to think and think with your mind, not your heart. It’ll still be like you’re hurting, so if you’re in chaos you’ll probably never have clarity.”

“Take some time and get out of it and then look at it in third person, to understand how much better you can answer it or is it necessary? Sometimes it’s okay to just keep quiet. When it’s wrong with you It also takes a lot of courage if it’s treated… everyone only knows one side of the story and it’s okay when you feel like it because at the end of the day, I’m someone who aims I had one objective – to play cricket at the best optimum level that I could. If I have to achieve this every time I step out on the field and I want to give my best, it’s just my skills. It’s not about my mental state but it’s also about my mental state.”

“I had to be in the best place in my mind to go out there and give my best. So, for me to be in that good mental space, I had to overcome or eventually get over that moment of hurt, anger, frustration, irritation, because I realized that my purpose was not to engage in that moment for long. . Time had to pass, that’s what sport has taught me. In cricket, when you score a century, the next day you have to start from the beginning again, you don’t start with a hundred. Obviously, that round hurt me a bit but I won and so I was able to deliver what I have done in the last year and a half. I was able to overcome those feelings,” Raj said.

After this incident, Powar was removed from the post of coach and WV Raman was appointed in his place. He later returned in 2021.
