Eknath Shinde is a top Shiv Sena leader and is the current Minister of Urban Affairs in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Mr Shinde, who is currently “inaccessible” after moving to a hotel with 10 party MLAs in Gujarat’s Surat, is a senior Shiv Sena leader in Thane which is adjacent to Mumbai. He is also responsible for strengthening the party in many other places.
Mr. Shinde is likely to address the media this afternoon, which signals a major crisis for the Maharashtra ruling coalition.
Shiv Sena MLA recently went on a Ayodhya tour with Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray.

His son Shrikant Shinde is a Lok Sabha MP and his brother Prakash Shinde is a corporator.
Mr Shinde is reportedly angry with the party after being deliberately sidelined for some time now. He has good relations with all parties.
The strong leader of Shiv Sena also has strong support of many Shiv Sena MLAs and he has a lot of clout in Shiv Sena stronghold Thane.
