Why is Mormugao being called the deadliest warship built by India? I would be proud of the great preparation of the Navy

Indigenously built destroyer ‘INS Mormugao’ to boost its maritime capability amid China’s growing presence in the Indian Ocean Region (INS Mormugao) will be inducted into the Indian Navy on Sunday. Defense Minister Singh will commission the ship at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. The warship has been named Mormugao after the historic port city of Goa on the west coast. Incidentally, it first landed at sea on December 19, 2021, the day Goa completed 60 years of liberation from Portuguese rule.

What is special in Mormugao?

According to the Indian Navy, this warship is equipped with remote sensing equipment, modern radar and weapons like surface-to-surface missiles and surface-to-air missiles. The Navy said that the width of this warship is 163 meters, the width is 17 meters and the weight is 7,400 tonnes. It can be built by India with the deadliest ships. The vessel is propelled by four powerful gas turbines. The vessel is capable of achieving speeds in excess of 30 knots. The Navy said the anti-submarine warfare capability of the ship has been developed indigenously and the ship is fitted with rocket launchers, torpedo launchers and SAW helicopters. Potter is capable of fighting during nuclear, biological and chemical warfare.

42 ships and submarines are also being built, 55 more have been approved

The Navy informed that the second of the four ‘Visakhapatnam’ class destroyers has been designed and built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, an indigenous organization of the Indian Navy. The specialty of this warship is that almost 75 percent of it is completely indigenous and it has been built under our national goal of ‘Self-reliant India’. With self-reliance and indigenization, 42 of the 44 ships and submarines are being built at Indian shipyards, thus furthering our efforts of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. In addition, orders have been placed for the construction of 55 ships and submarines. They will be built in Indian shipyards.
