Role of Boards – Building a Sustainable Competitive Edge Published by SAGE re-examines the roles played by Indian boards, with the hypothesis that boards of directors are not doing enough to develop sustainable and competitive organizations.

“In India, this important topic is shrouded in mystery and deserves revelation, especially since boards are located at the helm of companies and can potentially play an important role in the life of an organization,” said Asha Bhandarkar, co-founder -The book is authored by renowned management guru, Late Pritam Singh, and along with author and human resource professional Subir Verma.

The initiative was taken by Pritam Singh, who had the experience of serving on 20 corporate boards over the past 30 years. “The whole research took about five years. I must admit that it was not an easy exercise- COVID-19 was in full form in India, when we were writing the conclusion of the book. We had WhatsApp meetings every evening to align We used to interact with each other’s thought processes so that the flow of the book was not affected. The three of us divided the work and every evening we updated each other on our progress and insights,” says Asha, a distinguished professor at IMI Delhi. Huh.

In this book, the role of Indian boards in building organizations with a sustainable competitive edge is empirically examined. “The book collects the views and experiences of board members through questionnaires and interviews on several behavioral aspects of board room functioning,” says Asha.

Asha says, “This work is unique because it examines boardroom functioning from the lens of organizational performance. It examines how organizations can consistently move to the next grade to outdo competitors and increase their longevity. “

Born in Hyderabad and graduated from Osmania University, Asha is a well-known name in the field of leadership and human resources as a psychologist, a management professor and a scholar, consultant and researcher. Prior to her current assignment at IMI-Delhi, she was the Raman Munjal Chair Professor of Leadership Studies as well as Dean, Research and Consulting at MDI-Gurgaon.

He has published nine books and over 40 research papers and cases in peer-reviewed national and international journals and edited books. Several of his publications are co-authored with Pritam Singh, who passed away on June 3, 2020.
