Wickremesinghe says IMF deal pushed back after unrest – Times of India

President of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe said on Saturday that an agreement with International Monetary Fund The Associated Press reported that it has been pushed back to September due to unrest in the past weeks.
Wickremesinghe in his first speech after being elected by ParliamentThe report said that even though they had aimed to reach an agreement by early August, it has now been pushed back by a month.
Wickremesinghe was appointed after the former President Gotabaya RajapakseUnder which discussions with the IMF began in April, it was pulled out on 13 July.
The Finance Ministry said on Friday that Sri Lanka has resumed bailout discussions with the IMF after the new government came to power and the talks were extremely successful.
The country has an external debt of $12 billion along with private creditors.
