Thrissur, Kerala:

A wild elephant died after falling into a septic tank in the backyard of a deserted house near a forest area in this district, forest officials said on Tuesday.

A forest official said the young toothless male elephant broke through the solar fence and wandered into the human habitation area. It was later found dead, first having fallen face down in the septic tank.

The incident is being told of Vellikulangara Forest Range.

Officials said the elephant would be pulled out of the area with the help of a crane and buried after the postmortem.
