In form of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Facing backlash for conducting two board exams this year and students demanding cancellation of term 2 exams on social media, there is a possibility that the current batch may be the only batch to take two board exams in a year. Is. CBSE may go back to the annual examination system in the coming year.
For CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 students of the 2022-23 batch, as per common practice, there can be only one exam. The board had decided to conduct two board exams – Term 1 and Term 2 – due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since last year CBSE could not conduct the exam due to the third wave of COVID-19, if such a situation had arisen this year also, the board would have used Term 1 score and internal assessment to declare the result. As the COVID-19 situation improves, the examinations of both Term 1 and Term 2, as well as the internals, will combine to form the final result.

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2022 had suggested conducting two board exams, between the two, that could be conducted later to allow students to improve their scores. The aim is to make the board low-stakes. Prior to the suggestion of the NEP, it was believed that the two-board examination system would continue.
According to media reports, CBSE had adopted the two-term examinations only as a “one-time formula” and now it will be reintroduced in the annual examination system. But the syllabus cut-off for the next year will continue. It means, the board will continue to conduct the exam on the basis of less syllabus. The syllabus for 10th and 12th board exams was cut by 30 per cent in 2020 and is likely to continue.
If the board will be conducted once, and suggests to be the NEP Improvement Score exam, then there is a possibility that after the result, the central board may allow the students to appear in the exam once again, however, there is no word yet on this. There is no official description.
