Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai today said he has taken seriously the BJP’s defeat in Hangal constituency and will take corrective steps.

Hangal constituency comes under the Chief Minister’s home district Haveri. Mr. Bommai is the representative of Shiggaon assembly constituency which comes under Haveri district.

“Elections are fought at a specific time and issues, so it doesn’t decide the matter, but, I have taken this electoral setback very seriously and we will all make reforms,” ​​Mr Bommai said when asked if Hangal The result is a setback for his leadership and the party.

“We did not get the required votes in Hangal. The main reason for this is the death of our late leader CM Udasi, we could not get the support that we used to get. Congress’ winning candidate Srinivas Mane did some work even during the COVID-19 pandemic, For which the people of Hangal supported him.”

Further, Chief Minister Bommai congratulated the BJP for “winning the leaders and workers of Sindagi constituency by a good margin”.

The results of the Karnataka by-elections were declared today, in which the BJP has won the Sindgi assembly constituency and the Congress has won the Hangal seat.

Voting for two assembly seats in Karnataka was held on 30 October along with 27 other assembly constituencies in several states across India.
