CHANDIGARH: Haryana government has decided to implement 75% reservation for local residents in private sector jobs this month, Deputy Chief Minister said. Dushyant Chautala said on Wednesday.
Inquiries revealed that meetings have started to finalize the date for implementation of quota system and synchronizing data of various departments.
On March 2 last year, the Haryana Legislative Assembly had passed the Local Candidates Bill 2020. The bill had received the assent of the governor in November and was pending for notification since then.
The issue was raised by Deputy Leader of Opposition Aftab Ahmed and Mayhem MLA Balraj Kundu in the recently concluded monsoon session of the Assembly. He had sought details of employment provided to local youth under the bill passed last year.
Inquiries revealed that the employment department was compiling data of industries department, employment offices, ITIs, polytechnics, engineering and medical colleges and other institutions.
The Labor Department is planning to launch a portal to reach out to the right persons.
One of the major promises of employment for the local youth was Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) during the assembly elections.
Reacting to the government’s decision, Ahmed said that he was very suspicious of the government’s project.
“Why did they wait for 10 months? This time also the motive is not to provide employment, but to pat their back at a time when the government is facing criticism from all sides. Why does the government not come up with the actual situation,” he said. trade and industry in the state where employment will be provided to the local people?” Ahmed said.
