Wimbledon 2022, Day 4: Rafael Nadal, Coco Gauff and Inga Swietec in focus

Twenty-two-time Slam winner Rafael Nadal, American teenager Coco Gauff and 2021 runner-up Karolina Pliskova will take to the courts for their second round matches on Center Court on Day 4 of the All England Championships. While top seed Inga Swietec will also be seen in action on Thursday.

Sixth seed Pliskova will face British player Katie Boulter in the opening match of the day on the main court.

Men’s second seed Nadal will face Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania. The Spaniard has won the last two Grand Slam tournaments of the year and is certainly eyeing the trophy at the All England Club. Nadal has two Wimbledon titles to his name. He defeated Roger Federer in the 2008 final to claim his first grasscourt slam and added to the collection in 2010 as he got the better of Thomas Berdych.

Women’s 11th seed Gauff will face Romania’s Mihela Buzarnescu. The 18-year-old was a losing finalist at the French Open earlier this month, as she went down to a dominant performance by in-form Pol Swietek at Roland Garros.

Roland Garros champion Swietec, who is on a 36-match winning streak, will face Dutch woman Leslie Pattinama Kerkhove. They will play on the No. 1 court.

France’s Elise Cornet is pitted against USA’s Claire Liu as Spain’s Paula Badosa will be seen in action as she takes on Romania’s Irina Barra.

France’s Harmony Tan, who was responsible for Serena Williams’ exit from the tournament, is set to take on Spain’s Sara Soribes Tormo.

Romania’s 16th seed Simona Halep will take on unseeded Kirsten Flipkens of Belgium in the second round in SW19.

Petra Kvitova will try to beat Anna Bogdan, while eight seed Jessica Pegula will play Brit Harriet Dart.

Men’s fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas is expected to continue his stellar form as he moves into his second round match against Australian Jordan Thompson.

Canada’s Denis Shapalov, seeded 13, will take on American Brandon Nakashima while veteran Frenchman Richard Gasquet will face Mackenzie McDonald.

11th seed Taylor Fritz and 12th seed Diego Schwartzman will be seen in action against Alistair Gray and Liam Brody.

Mercurial Australian Nick Kyrgios will face off with Filip Krajinovic in the third round of the grass-court tournament to bet.
