Woman shot dead in clash between UP Police and people of Uttarakhand: Police

Dehradun:

People protest after a woman was shot dead in a clash between Moradabad police in Uttar Pradesh and people of Bharatpur village in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand.

Five Uttar Pradesh police personnel were injured in the clash and are undergoing treatment.

According to the Uttarakhand Police, the Moradabad Police had gone to Udham Singh Nagar to arrest the criminal with a reward of Rs 50,000.

Moradabad Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Shalabh Mathur said that the criminal escaped from Bharatpur village and was taken hostage when the police team arrived.

“The accused is a wanted criminal with a reward of Rs 50,000. He fled from there (Bharatpur village). When our police team reached, he was taken hostage and his weapons were snatched,” he said.

“Five of our policemen were injured and are undergoing treatment. Uttarakhand Police has confirmed the death of a woman in the incident,” he said.

Uttarakhand Police said that they will take fair and legal action in this matter.
