Prayagraj: As far as Kovid vaccination is concerned, women beneficiaries have maintained their lead for the third consecutive month. Despite the festive season of Diwali and Chhath Puja, the first week of November saw active participation of women beneficiaries for vaccination.
Of the 56,158 doses given between November 1 and November 7, 29,698 female recipients received the dose, while the number of male counterparts was limited to 26,445. Of the total 8,41,889 doses administered in the month of October, 4,40,094 doses were given to women, while 4,01,428 doses were received by men.
However, the vaccination campaign failed to break the record for the month of September, as a total of 9,39,300 doses were administered in September, involving 4,78,740 females and 4,60,002 males.
Health department officials also agree that the pace of vaccination was less in October as compared to September. With the ongoing COVID vaccination campaign in Prayagraj district, more than 36,49,807 lakh jabs have already been given to all recipients above the age of 18 years till 7th November.
The district health department officials have set a target of giving the COVID-19 vaccine to around 45.16 lakh beneficiaries, which includes 33 lakh recipients in the age group of 18 to 44 years and 12.10 lakh beneficiaries above the age of 45 years. A total of 36,49,807 COVID vaccine shots, including 19,44,891 male, 17,03,285 female and 1,631 transgender, were administered to recipients of all age groups, including those above 45 years and between 18 and 44 years, till November 7 in the district. Are included. While 27,60,873 beneficiaries had received the first dose of vaccine, a total of 8,88,934 recipients also received the second dose. Officials said the health department is making efforts to expedite the vaccination of all eligible recipients at every nook and corner of Prayagraj district.
Additional Chief Medical Officer and District Immunization Officer (DIO) Dr Tirath Lal told TOI, more than 61% of the targeted recipients of all age groups were given at least the first dose, while 19.66 per cent of the targeted recipients have so far. Fully vaccinated.
“The department is now focusing on rural areas for vaccination campaigns to cover all eligible recipients this month,” he added. Dr Lal further said that they are identifying areas in rural areas where immunization was low and special teams would be deputed to cover eligible recipients. Recently senior health officials interacted with grassroot level health workers including ANMs, ASHA and staff nurses to increase immunization in rural areas and find out the reasons for low immunization in rural areas.
Senior Medical Officer, Dr Anupam Dwivedi said, “Teams have been deployed to promote vaccination in rural areas and women have been urged to do the job. Health workers are knocking on doors in all villages and blocks.
