Women’s Champions League: Harder helps Chelsea to Juventus, Huitema and Moller hit hat-trick

Pernil Harder scored the winning goal as Chelsea lost in last season’s final to a 2-1 win over Juventus in their UEFA Women’s Champions League second round matches on Wednesday. Chelsea, who drew 3-3 with Wolfsburg last week, opened the scoring after the half-hour mark through Scottish striker Erin Cuthbert, only for Juve to be fully timed by Italian veteran Barbara Bonancia. “It’s incredible for the team to be able to meet these goals. Just excited that the team has got another win,” said the modest Huitema.

Poland’s Paulina Dudek and Lee Khalifi scored for the Parisians against the out-class Ukrainians.

After two Group B games with seven goals scored and none conceded, PSG will enter their double-header with a confident Real Madrid.

“We are super excited to be playing on this incredible ground and incredible stadium” against Real Madrid, admitted Huitema.

“We have a huge fan base and we love his energy, we were missing fans for a long time.”

Madrid also went two out of two, with Caroline Möller scoring her own hat-trick in the opening 37 minutes of Iceland’s 5–0 win over Breedablik.

Olga Carmona and Lorena Navarro added two more to the comprehensive win.

Defending champions Barcelona tour Denmark to take on HB Koge on Thursday, while Arsenal host German rivals Hoffenheim in Group C.

Group D action matches Bayern Munich against Sweden’s Haken, while Lyon entertain Benfica.
