“After the Commonwealth Games, I was thinking of taking a rest, but the National Games were suddenly announced and there was no way I was going to miss it. National Games have always been special to me. As Kerala’s best medal hope, I was looking forward to participating in more and more events and was not watching the time.

“I’m satisfied with my performance and eight medals isn’t bad because I wasn’t fully fit. I had lower abdominal pain and that affected my performance in the first three days. It’s great to win the best athlete award again.” Although I must say that I was not leaving it, ”he said.

After a youth group of swimmers pushed him into several events, Sajan managed to stop him and remind everyone that he is still one of the best swimmers in the country.

“It feels great to be consistent. Plus, it’s nice to understand that I’m still strong aerobically and I’m strong at events other than my favorite butterfly events,” said Sajan, 29.

Although he still remains one of the fittest swimmers around, Sajan said it was important for him to take a break to rest his shoulders.

“There will be no competition for me this year. I will take care of my health. I have to take care of my shoulders. I want to heal and rejuvenate myself Before I start thinking about qualifying for the Asian Games.”
