State files affidavit in National Green Tribunal
The Telangana government has filed an affidavit in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) saying that it has stopped work on the Palamuru-Rangareddy and Dindi lift-irrigation schemes in November. The affidavit was filed by the NGT in response to a notice that it came to know about the ongoing works on lift-irrigation schemes in defiance of its order to suspend the schemes till they get environmental clearance. The Andhra Pradesh government had moved the tribunal to continue the work. Irrigation Special Chief Secretary Rajat Kumar told Hindu That the affidavit was filed by Engineer-in-Chief C. Muralidhar on February 14. The NGT was scheduled to hear the matter on Thursday and Friday.
