Wrestlers protest: Heads of more than 20 khaps reached Jantar Mantar

Amid protests by women wrestlers against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, representatives of all khaps in Haryana will reach Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Sunday to extend their support and express solidarity with him, Hindustan Times reported. Told 6. May.

Wrestlers have accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment.

Earlier on Saturday, heads of more than 20 khaps held a meeting at Meham Chaubisi Chabutra (a cluster of 24 villages) and announced their decision to reach Delhi. He also urged the people of Haryana, Western Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan to come out in large numbers in support of the wrestlers.

“It is a fight for the honor of our daughters, who have accused BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual harassment. We are surprised how the Prime Minister and his Council of Ministers are silent on this issue and BJP people are trying to divert the issue by calling this protest of girls of one state. The complainants allege that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh tried to touch them inappropriately several times, but the Delhi Police failed to arrest him. Haryana minister Sandeep Singh facing similar charges is also enjoying ministerial post and Chandigarh police has also failed to arrest him. What message does BJP want to give to women?

Nambardar even said that Khap leaders from western Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan and farmer leaders from northern states will also reach there on Sunday. Expressing surprise, he said that he has taken another tough decision, which he will announce on Sunday from the wrestlers’ dharna.

Deswal Khap’s representative Subhash Deswal said that the whole country is proud of wrestlers and the central government is trying to protect its MP.

These women wrestlers are being harassed in every way for raising their voice against Brij Bhushan’s wrongdoings. Pehlwan is not alone in this fight, the entire Khap, farming community and women are standing like a rock with him. He said that there is a difference between the words and actions of the BJP.

Meanwhile, Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) chief Ajay Singh Chautala said that the Delhi Police has registered two FIRs against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and the police is probing the matter.

“Their (wrestlers’) demand was accepted by the government and two committees were formed to probe and two FIRs were also registered,” he said.
