XUV700 becomes second Mahindra SUV to receive Global NCAP’s ‘Safer Choice’ award – Times of India

Global NCAP launched the ‘Safe Cars for India’ campaign in 2014 with an aim to promote safer cars in the country. As a part of this campaign, Global NCAP has completed 54 safety assessments so far, which it claims have acted as a significant catalyst in improving the safety of Indian cars.

According to Global NCAP, to qualify for the coveted award a car must meet certain specific requirements, which include –
1. Models must achieve a 5-star score for Adult Occupant Protection in accordance with the latest version of the Global NCAP New Market Test Protocol.
2. The model must achieve at least a 4-star result in Child Occupant Protection in accordance with the latest version of the Global NCAP New Market Test Protocol.
3. Models must offer Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and meet performance requirements in accordance with United Nations Regulations UN13H, UN140 or GTR9. Where optional, ESC must be available on all model variants, with other features sold separately without any ‘bundling’, and a standard fit for at least 20% of sales volume in the country from 2 years onwards Should be.
4. The model must meet pedestrian safety requirements in accordance with United Nations Regulation UN127 or GTR9. Which should be validated at market units in global NCAP designated testing laboratory.
5. All these requirements must be verified in a global NCAP designated laboratory and by provision of type approval certificates where applicable.
