Greater Noida: With the Noida airport project gaining momentum, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is planning to develop a hub of industries involved in manufacturing aircraft parts. Civil aviation cluster being planned on 500 acres in Sector 10 YEIDA Area.
Officials said YEIDA was planning to allot around 250 plots in June – each measuring 2 acres or more – to companies involved in manufacturing aircraft parts and machinery. a maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) is also likely to become the hub for the aircraft.
Many foreign companies, such as Boeing, GE Digital, honeywell and L-3 Harris had expressed interest in the YEIDA plan, officials said.
“We plan to develop an aviation cluster on 500 acres in Sector 10. Companies will prepare their detailed project reports and the final layout of the plan can be prepared keeping in mind their requirements. We are planning to announce the plot plan sometime in June, said Arun Veer Singh, CEO, YEIDA. He said that companies will have to apply online along with their DPRs.
Sources said the aviation cluster scheme could attract investment of up to Rs 80,000 crore and generate employment opportunities for around 10,000 people.
Singh said estimates can be made only after interested companies submit their project reports.
When asked about foreign companies that had expressed interest, Singh said, “Some of them have also had preliminary discussions with us.”
Yeda CEO said that since the Noida airport was being billed as the largest such facility in Asia, an MRO center was also proposed. “We have started the process of acquiring 1,365 hectares separately for the MRO centre. Companies engaged in manufacturing aircraft parts have shown interest. Here technology including artificial intelligence will play an important role.
“The MRO center will also provide facilities for repair of aircraft, maintenance of parts and engines,” said Yeda CEO.
