Yogi Adityanath launches campaign to distribute smartphones to one crore students of Uttar Pradesh

Tablets and smartphones were distributed to 60,000 students at the Ekana Stadium.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on December 25 launched a campaign to distribute free tablets and smartphones to one crore students of the state. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary in Lucknow.

Since 2014, 25 December is celebrated as ‘Good Governance Day’ in memory of Vajpayee, who served as the Prime Minister of the country thrice, including a full term in 1999-2004.

Tablets and smartphones were distributed to 60,000 students at the Ekana Stadium.

Five students- Akanksha Mishra, final year student of B.Sc. Nursing, Sagar Upmanyu, a visually impaired student of MA (Political Science), Mehul Gupta, a B.Tech student, Prabal Awasthi preparing for competitive exams and Zeba Kausar, a final year BA student, were invited to speak on the stage . He thanked the Chief Minister for providing resources to the needy students.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Adityanath said that youth should not be disappointed in their lives and urged them to think big.

“Thinking should never be small. If the thinking is big then it will give a new dimension to your personality. Youth should never let despair enter their lives, if they work with this passion, they will be able to do anything,” said Mr. Adityanath.

The CM named Chhatrapati Shivaji, Maharana Pratap, Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi as people who sent a strong message to the world while they were still young.

Union Minister for Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan was also present on the occasion.

Without taking names, Mr Adityanath accused Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav of misleading people during the pandemic and encouraging nepotism under his rule.

He said, “The youth who get up at 12 o’clock are not the youth who are opposing the vaccine and misguided during the corona pandemic, they are all tired and retired, don’t trust them.”

He said, ‘Before 2017 there was nepotism in appointments, when job announcements were made, people of one family, one lineage, uncle, nephew, maternal uncle all used to go out for extortion.

Mr Adityanath claimed to have created 4.5 lakh jobs in the state in the five years of his rule and, to the shock of his “patrons”, cracked down on the ‘mafia’.

Paying tributes to Vajpayee and the founder of Banaras Hindu University, Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, Shri Adityanath said that the students of Uttar Pradesh have acquired a new identity in the country and in the world.

The CM awarded ₹1.5 crore to weightlifter Mira Bai Chanu, who won silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and ₹10 lakh to her coach Vijay Kumar Sharma.

Earlier addressing the gathering, Shri Pradhan said that the students of the country realized the importance of smart phones and digital education during the Corona pandemic.

Citing a report, he said that due to poverty and lack of internet connectivity, only 50% of the youth of the country were able to connect to digital education during the pandemic.

He said that in the coming few months all the villages of UP will be connected to the internet.
