You are next: Death threats to ‘Harry Potter’ author JK Rowling after attack on Salman Rushdie – Times of India

The attack on former Booker Prize winning author Salman Rushdie on August 12, 2022 left his literary fans and friends in a state of shock. Reacting to the news, when “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling expressed her support for Rushdie on Twitter, she was publicly threatened with death by an Iran-backed extremist.

Rowling expressed her grief about the attack on Rushdie, tweeting: “Feeling very sick right now. Let him get well.”

Twitter user Mir Asif Aziz responded to Rowling’s tweet, writing, “Don’t worry you’re next.” Aziz’s Twitter bio described him as a “student, social worker, political activist and research activist”.

In response, Rowling wrote to Twitter executives with screenshots of Aziz’s death threats. Rowling tweeted with a screenshot of the threat, “@TwitterSupport Any chance of some support?”

Rowling later confirmed that the police were now involved in the case, as they were already on other threats. To everyone who sent a helpful message: Thank you

Police is involved (already involved in other threats),” she said in a tweet.

It is noted that Rowling was previously targeted by some trans-activists for her opinion on gender.

Meanwhile, his new novel titled ‘The Ink Black Heart’ by Robert Galbraith will be published on August 30, 2022.
