Zelensky calls for 9/11, calls on US Congress to impose further sanctions on Russia

The US Congress on Wednesday gave Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky a standing ovation as he addressed lawmakers on Russia’s invasion of his country.

“Slavic Ukraine,” or pride for Ukraine, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, as lawmakers gathered and enthusiastically clapped for Zelensky in a joint session, visible by videolink from the besieged capital Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Zelensky on Wednesday cited Pearl Harbor and the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks as he appealed to the US Congress to do more to help Ukraine’s fight against Russia.

“We need you right now,” Zelensky said in remarks livestreamed at the US Capitol. He said, “I ask you to do more”
