Zomato CEO says delivery agents are aware of fraud and are fixing it

New Delhi, Jan 22 (IANS) After an entrepreneur complained in a LinkedIn post that a Zomato delivery agent directly advised him to cheat the company by paying some money and enjoy the food, the company’s founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said it is “aware of this fraud” and is “working to plug the loophole”.

Vinay Sati posted that a Zomato delivery agent suggested that from next time onwards pay him Rs 200 or Rs 300 and enjoy a meal worth Rs 1,000.

Sati quoted the agent in the post as saying, “You just give me Rs 200, Rs 300 or take Rs 1,000 for dinner.”

The agent allegedly told her that ‘I will show Zomato that you have not taken the food but will also give you the food you have ordered’.

Sati posted, “I got goosebumps listening to the scam happening with Zomato.”

He ordered some Burger King burgers from Zomato and paid online.

“And as soon as the delivery boy came after 30-40 minutes, he told me sir, next time don’t pay online,” said the entrepreneur.

“They said next time you order food worth Rs 700-800 through COD (cash on delivery) you will have to pay only Rs 200 for that.”

Sati said: “Dipendra Goyal ji, now don’t say that you are not even aware that this is happening?”

Goyal replied: “Aware of it and working to plug the loophole”.
