12 foot crocodile mistook a plastic statue and attacked the man

Horrifying footage shows 12-foot reptile attacking tourist

A tourist in the Philippines was attacked by a crocodile because he mistook it for a life-size model. Nehemias Chipada climbed into a pool to take some pictures with a 12-foot reptile at a theme park. However, to the horror of the 68-year-old man, the crocodile jumped on his arm and dragged him into the water.

According to MirrorThe incident took place when Mr. Chipada was visiting Amaya View Amusement Park in Cagayan de Oro city, Philippines on November 10.

As he stood with his phone in one hand to take a selfie with the crocodile, the hunter grabbed his left hand and dragged him into the water in front of his frightened family and others. The incident was captured on camera by onlooker Rogelio Palmisa Antiga and the scenes were shared widely online.

According to daily mail, Nehemias Chipada was fortunately able to break free and escape. Photos taken soon after the attack showed him lying on the ground, his left arm covered in blood and tied. He was taken to the hospital, where surgery was performed on his left arm. Mr Chipada is recovering from an attack at the North Mindanao Medical Center.

The Chipada family has blamed the lack of warning signs around the amusement park for the incident. Mr. Chipada’s daughter, Mercy Joy Chipada, said: “We had no advice warning us not to enter the enclosure. Because if there were, we would never have gone there.”

However, Amusement Park has denied these allegations. Amaya View said it would provide financial assistance to Mr Chipada to help with his medical bills while denying any wrongdoing.

Kandy Unabiya, chief operating officer of Amaya View, said: “We deny the allegation that we were negligent.

“They said they thought the crocodile was artificial too, but that area is actually restricted. There are signs and constant reminders from our tour guides,” he was quoted by the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, onlookers at the scene describe being horrified by what they saw. Rogelio Palmisa Antiga, who filmed the scene, said, “I was looking at the beautiful scenery around the park when the incident happened. I heard people shouting for help and saw the crocodile scuffle with the old man.”

“I wanted to help him, but I was scared and didn’t know how to deal with a crocodile attack.”
