Valentino Rossi’s MotoGP career is the stuff of legends. And to celebrate 26 years of its dominance at the World Championships, Yamaha gifted the legendary racer a special R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute race bike which will be showcased at the ‘One More Lap’ event at the ongoing 2021 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Italy. was displayed. The nine-time world champion took the main stage at the event in the midst of a huge crowd. The Yamaha R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute is a one-of-a-kind offering and features track-day goodies and a paint scheme inspired by the nine-time world champion. Many components are taken from the manufacturer’s WSBK program. Yamaha gifted it to Rossi to celebrate his extraordinary MotoGP career.

So what makes the R1 GYTR VR46 so special? For starters, it gets 2022 GYTR (Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing) spec parts which are a direct result of Yamaha WorldSBK development. The bike gets a new carbon fiber fairing kit and full carbon rear subframe to keep the weight to a minimum, while the fuel tank capacity has been increased to 22 liters. The GYTR R1 also gets exclusive Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension and REX 140 Marelli ECU for better power delivery.

Other components include a GYTR developed Marchesini wheel-set, Akrapovic exhaust, front brake protector, handlebar set, air funnel set, head gasket, slipper clutch, electronic throttle and more. The exclusive outfit of the Yamaha R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute was designed and manufactured by Aldo Drudi of Drudi Performance. He is a longtime helmet designer and friend of Rossi.

Valentino Rossi hangs up his riding boots at the end of this season and wraps up an illustrious career. One of the most successful riders of all time in MotoGP, Rossi won world titles in the 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP classes with 115 wins, 235 podiums and 425 race starts. Of the 115 victories, 89 have been in the major category. While Rossi will no longer race on the MotoGP grid, the rider’s VR46 team with Ducati is all set to debut next year.
