According to the bulletin issued by the state health department, 14 people were found infected with Kovid-19 in the central region on Wednesday.
Tiruchy reported five fresh cases, two each in Ariyalur, Nagapattinam and Karur and one each in Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Pudukottai districts.
The total number of active cases in the area stood at 169 on Wednesday. Tiruchy had the maximum number of active cases with 52 persons undergoing treatment including home treatment for the infection. Ariyalur had 29 active cases, Thanjavur 20, Karur and Nagapattinam 17, Tiruvarur 16, Mayiladuthurai 11 and Pudukottai seven.
