Criticizing the claim of rebel Shiv Sena MLAs that their fight was to protect the party’s Hindutva, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday said more than half of them were with the NCP earlier. Several rebel MLAs as well as their leader and senior Maharashtra minister Eknath Shinde have said they did not accept Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray’s decision to break ties with the like-minded BJP and join hands with the NCP and Congress.

Speaking at a public meeting in Alibaug near Mumbai, Raut said, “The rebel MLAs supporting Eknath Shinde are saying that their aim is to protect Hindutva as envisaged by party founder Balasaheb Thackeray. “Twenty of them have come from the Nationalist Congress Party. Which Hindutva are they talking about? Those opposing Balasaheb Thackeray ruined their own career.

According to the Shinde faction, which is camping in Guwahati, it has the support of 40 of the 55 Shiv Sena MLAs. Raut also called the party MLA from Alibaug, Mahendra Dalvi, who has joined the Shinde camp, a “bull”.

“When I called Mahendra, he said that he is taking rest and hung up. He was earlier with the NCP and other political parties such as the Kisan and Shramik Party. I think it is time to replace the bull,” said Raut.
