Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh:

At least 25 people were injured, two of them seriously, when they were on their way to Gujarat after they fell from a culvert in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district, a senior official said on Sunday.

He told that the accident took place on Saturday late night.

Collector Kumar Purushottam told PTI over phone, “Around 25 passengers were injured when a bus going from Indore to Rajkot fell off a culvert on Bhuki Mata Bypass after picking up passengers from Ujjain, two of whom are in critical condition.” Serious.”

Ujjain Collector said that the injured were taken to the district hospital.

Police said most of the victims had gone to offer prayers at the famous Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain.

Omprakash Mishra, City Superintendent of Police (CSP) of Mahakal range, said that preliminary investigation revealed that the bus carrying around 35 passengers was being driven in an uncontrolled manner.

The front wheels and engine of the bus got separated from the vehicle after it overturned, he said.

The bus skidded off the road and fell 8 feet before turning, he said, adding that the incident happened at a blind turn, which is an accident-prone zone.

“We have registered a case of rash and negligent driving against the bus driver, who is undergoing treatment at the district hospital,” Mishra said.
