47 idol collection centers in Aurangabad today | Aurangabad News – Times of India

Aurangabad : Aurangabad Municipal Corporation ,AMC) will set up a total of 47 idol collection centers in different parts of the city for the immersion day of Ganesh festival on Friday.
To be set up in nine areas within municipal limits, each center will have two staff to collect idols from the devotees. A separate vehicle is allotted to each center to take these idols for immersion in an eco-friendly manner.
AMC’s Cultural Officer Sanjeev Sonari Appealed to devotees to hand over their idols to collection centers instead of immersing them in wells or other water bodies.
“The idol collection centers operate on immersion day for the last two years. This year these arrangements will work in a more systematic manner. The idols collected at these centers will be immersed in a group according to traditions and customs.
While there are artificial tanks in Harsul lake and some other places in the city, the AMC has also announced to install two such tanks. Jyoti Nagar, While one pond is reserved for the immersion of idols made of Shadu clay, the other will have the immersion of idols made of plaster of paris up to a height of three feet.
About 1,800 Ganesh Mandals have been registered in Aurangabad this year, which will participate in the Visarjan Day procession along with the devotees who celebrated Ganesh Utsav in a homely manner. Protectionists appeal to citizens not to immerse idols in wells or reservoirs Milind Girdhari He said that the devotees should hand over their idols to the collection centres. “Eco-friendly celebration of Ganesh Utsav is the collective responsibility of all. Preserving ecological balance is the need of the hour,” he said.
