The personnel of Pazhavanthangal police station on Friday arrested a gang of five people for possessing ganja for the purpose of sale.
A special team of police conducted surveillance at Pazhavanthangal after receiving information about smuggling of huge quantity of ganja.
On Thursday, Arun Pandian, 24, Karthik, 21, Tamilselvan, 24, Vijay, 24, and Jabganpet Rakesh, 21, were caught trying to sell marijuana near Pazhavanthangal Metro.
Police said the banned substance was smuggled from Andhra Pradesh and was sold within the city limits.
Two kilograms of ganja have been recovered from them.
