51 lakh families of Punjab will get free electricity from September 1: CM Bhagwant Mannu

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday said that 51 households in the state will get zero electricity bill from September 1.

The Punjab Chief Minister on Friday dedicated the 66KV Butari-Beas line to the people and said that his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would provide 600 units of free electricity per billing cycle to every section of the society.

He said that with this “pro-people initiative”, 51 lakh households out of total 74 lakh will get zero electricity bill from September.

last month, Punjab Cabinet Approval has been given to provide 600 units of free electricity per billing cycle to every household in the state from July 1.

There is a two-month billing cycle for electricity supply in the state.

Mann claimed that for the first time the farmers of the state have got regular, uninterrupted and surplus electricity.

On the 66 KV line, he said that this important line, which regularly lights 70 villages in the border districts, is hanging in the fire for the last one decade.

According to the value, the total expenditure incurred on the project is 4.40 crores. And said that this project will benefit more than 2 lakh consumers, who will no longer have to face power cuts or overloading.

separately, Chief Minister of Punjab 6,000 posts of Anganwadi workers will be filled in the state.

The Chief Minister said that the government has accelerated the pace to complete the recruitment process within 45 days.

He said that the entire recruitment would be on merit basis and would be done in a transparent and fair manner, for which a mechanism was being developed.

Mann said that 4,300 posts are being filled in Punjab Police and appointment letters will be handed over to the selected candidates in the coming days.

The Chief Minister said that his government was committed to stop brain drain from the state.

Mann said that the state government is working hard in this direction.
