6 killed in 6.3 magnitude earthquake in Nepal; Tremors felt in Delhi-NCR

Kathmandu: Ani 6.6 magnitude earthquake hits Nepal in the early hours of Wednesday. According to ANI the death toll due to the earthquake is at least 6 people. In addition, 5 people were injured and taken to the hospital. Dozens of houses were damaged by landslides at various places across the district due to the strong earthquake. According to Nepal’s National Earthquake Center (NSC), three aftershocks – 2 earthquakes and 1 aftershock – were observed in the far-west region of Nepal. This was the third blow in which people lost their lives after a house collapsed.

The first earthquake of magnitude 5.7 was recorded at 9:07 pm (local time) on Tuesday, followed by the second earthquake of magnitude 4.1 at 9:56 pm (local time).


Ram Prasad Upadhyay, president of Purbichowki village, said, “A third strong jolt of magnitude 6.6 hit at 2:12 pm local time on Wednesday, killing three people after a house collapsed. Deaths are reported from Gairgaon.” Parishad-03 of Doti district told ANI over phone. Later the police said that the death toll has risen to 6.


Tremors were also felt in India’s capital New Delhi and its surrounding areas.
