64% of Indians bothered by 3 or more spam calls per day, reveals survey

New Delhi A survey conducted by LocalCircle revealed that around 64% of Indians receive three or more spam calls on their phones everyday. India is one of the most spammy countries in the world as citizens on an average receive around 17 spam calls per user per month, as claimed by Truecaller, a caller ID app.

in telecom department July 2021 It was proposed to take action against unsolicited SMS sent to the phone numbers of citizens. However, the threat of Unwanted Commercial Communication (UCC) continues unabated and for the past 9 months, local circles had received a large number of complaints about spam phone calls.

Despite registration on TRAI’s Do Not Call Registry (DND), many people face issues of unwanted calls made to them by fraudsters, spammers and telemarketers. The next question wants to know whether citizens who have subscribed to the Do Not Disturb (DND) list are receiving unwanted, annoying or sales/promotional phone calls on their mobile phones. In response, most 95% of Indians said “yes, still get them” and only 5% said “no, don’t get them”.

The survey also revealed that Indians highest numberR of pesky phone calls with someone trying to sell financial services and property. Spam SMS sent from banks, insurance brokers, car dealers, spa services, property agents and more recently income opportunities continues to haunt citizens.

Further it is also understood that the top 2 ways in which Indians pick up the call and then either block the caller or ask them not to call again.

The survey found that 64% of Indians get an average of 3 or more spam phone calls on their mobile numbers every day.

95% of mobile customers registered on the Do Not Disturb (DND) list say that they still receive unwanted and harassing calls to their numbers.

The findings also indicated that most Indians receive the most irritating phone calls from someone trying to sell financial services and property.
