Sanitation problem in government schools in villages around Noida. Noida News – Times of India

Noida: Some government schools located in the villages around Noida like Primary School Rohillapur, Shahpur and others in Sultanpur, Garhi etc complained about the lack of cleanliness and hygiene.
While the school administration maintains that in the absence of sanitation workers from the authority, who do not clean the school premises, saying that it is not in their jurisdiction or demand an additional fee of up to Rs 700, the schools privately But manage the cleanliness by hiring. help.
But they say a long-term solution is needed because every day they can’t get personal help, even though they face health hazards amid unclean washrooms and compounds. The Noida Village Residents Association (NOVRA) has taken up the matter and written to the CEO of the Noida Authority, but no redressal has taken place so far.
“There are around 100 students from class 1 to 5 in our school. We have four toilets for the students and one for the staff. We have to struggle to keep the washrooms clean as none of the sanitation workers posted by the authority in the village are ready to clean them or the school premises. At times, the staff helps with cleaning our surroundings, other times we take personal help and pay out of our own pocket. Surbhi Singh Principal of Government Primary School village Rohillapur, near Sector 132 in Noida, said that the complaint with the department and the concerned authorities has not yet been resolved.
Singh, who claims that the problem has persisted since February this year, said that the scavengers say that the schools do not come under their purview and hence they will not clean it. “We also tried to pay them for cleaning, but they ask for Rs 700-800 for the job and we cannot afford such expenses as we do not get that kind of fund. So, we sanitize the school on our own and try our best to manage the cleanliness of the school amongst the staff and occasional personal help,” Singh said, adding that soon, the school would go for summer vacations from May 20. it will be closed. and reopen on 16 June. “During the month-long shutdown, in the absence of regular sweepers, even more dirt, dust, traps etc. will be dealt with and I am already worried about it,” she said.
Similar complaints were received from schools in villages like Shahpur, Sultanpur, Garhi etc in Noida, even as they approached Novara to resolve the issue.
“We have written a letter to the CEO of Noida Authority, Ritu Maheshwari, informing that the government schools in the villages do not have safai karamcharis. We have also informed that the root cause of this is the agreement between the authority and the contractors, in which we have asked the Safai Karamcharis in government schools to be separated from the rest of the people deputed for the village. While the authority’s sweepers are required to clean the schools as per the contract, they do not do the work. As a result, many schools in villages suffer from sanitation issues,” said Ranjan Tomar president, Nowra.
The matter has also been referred to the District Basic Education Officer, who has assured action soon.
