AAP cancels rallies in Uttar Pradesh amid rising Covid-19 cases

Senior party leader Sanjay Singh said on Thursday that the Aam Aadmi Party has decided to cancel its rallies in Uttar Pradesh in view of the spurt in coronavirus cases. He said the party would instead hold virtual rallies in the state.

All your rallies in Uttar Pradesh have been cancelled. I will talk to you through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube in the ‘Kejriwal Guarantee’ public meeting to be held in Varanasi on January 8.

Singh, who is the party’s in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, said that accordingly the yatras which were to start from Sahibabad on January 9 and from the western part of the state on January 10 have been suspended.

The party had announced that it would contest all 403 seats in Uttar Pradesh. Apart from AAP, Congress has also canceled all its rallies in the state due to rising cases of Covid and will instead go for small gatherings by organizing street plays and door-to-door campaigns.
