Actor Bob Saget dies of unexplained head injury: Medical examiner

A medical examiner in Florida said Thursday that comedian Bob Saget died from an accidental head injury, possibly from a backwards fall.

Saget was found dead in a Florida hotel room on January 9, He had performed in the arena the night before as part of a stand-up tour.

According to a statement from Medical Examiner Joshua Stephanie in Orlando, a toxicology analysis showed no illegal drugs or toxins in Saget’s body.

An autopsy report released later Thursday showed Saget had an abrasion on his skull, a fracture at the base of his skull, a fracture around his eye socket, along with bleeding between the brain and the tissue covering the brain. Along with there were marks of injury on the brain. As per reports, Saget was positive for COVID-19, but there was no inflammation in his respiratory tract.

“His injuries were caused by an unintentional fall,” the statement said. “The mode of death is accident.”

The medical examiner’s findings were first announced by Saget’s family on Wednesday.

“Officers have determined that Bob suffered head trauma,” his statement said. “He has concluded that he accidentally hit something on the back of his head, thought nothing of it, and fell asleep. No drugs or alcohol were involved.”

The 65-year-old entertainer was found on his hotel bed at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando. When Saget failed to check out, a hotel security officer entered the room, and called 911. Officials said last month that there were no signs of any disturbance.

Known for his role as lovable single dad Danny Tanner in the sitcom “Full House” and as the wise host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos”, Saget was married to Kelly Rizzo Saget and his previous marriage Had three daughters.

Saget was on the road as part of his “I Don’t Do Negative Comedy Tour” and said just before his death that he enjoyed the warm audience reception in Orlando and the Ponte Vedra beach resort area.

He posted on Instagram, “I’m back in comedy like I was 26. I feel like I’m finding my new voice and loving every moment of it.”

Saget’s death sparked a flurry of affection from fans and co-workers, who remembered him as both funny and extraordinarily kind. His family said they were overwhelmed and comforted by the “incredible love from Bob’s fans”.

“As we continue to grieve together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought into this world, and the lesson he taught us all: to be kind to everyone. For the people you love, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face tough times with hugs and laughter,” his family said.
