Mysore: Amidst the controversy over dress code in colleges, the Chamarajanagar district administration has started preparations to conduct the second PU exam starting from April 16.
Last year, the exam was canceled due to the pandemic. on the basis of marks obtained in SSLC In the previous year exam, I PU students were promoted to the next class.
The border district has been ranked 12th by securing 69.3% results in 2020-21.
All the college heads have been instructed to conduct the laboratory examination from February 17 and complete it within a month. With the pandemic throwing the academic calendar out of gear, the government had reduced the syllabus by up to 30% for language subjects like Kannada, English and Hindi. However, the examinations of optional subjects will be conducted without reducing the syllabus.
The state PU board has also announced the model question papers in its official website, after making small changes, as compared to the previous years question papers. Students will get an opportunity to write the exam with multiple choice questions.
Since the question paper pattern of 2nd PU exam has been changed this year, unlike previous year state level, the question paper of preliminary exam at district level will be prepared by making small changes. The state PU department had organized various workshops for the lecturers on various occasions to prepare the model question papers for the preliminary examination.
This year 15,443 students will appear in both the first and second PU examinations from Chamarajanagar district.
“The department has paid special attention to improve the results of science stream students from across the district this year. Prepared test booklets in physics, biology and chemistry lecturer’s association subject-wise, and distributed among the students to perform well,” said M MaheshA PU lecturer.
Deputy Director of Pre-University Education nagmalesh Said that the lecturers of the department have covered 80% of the syllabus, and the students are ready to write the exam with confidence, after preparing to conduct the preliminary exam, despite the threat of the pandemic.
“A total of 80 PU students were tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus this year, and had mild symptoms. In the midst of a severe pandemic for a few months, classes were conducted successfully, without much impact on the studies of the students. The district has achieved 94 per cent of its target by vaccinating 14,425 PU students.
