Adani opens power plant to supply to Bangladesh

Mumbai : Adani Power Limited has opened a new power plant in Jharkhand which will supply electricity to Bangladesh.

Adani Power said in a regulatory filing on Friday that Unit 1 of the new plant has started operations with a capacity of 800 MW. According to the filing, this is part of the 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical power project of Adani Power (Jharkhand) Limited (APJL).

APJL, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Power, has a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Bangladesh Power Development Board’s Unit 1 to 748 MW.

Meanwhile, work on the second unit of 800 MW is in the final stages of completion and is expected to be commissioned soon. On 8 February, Adani Power reported that its consolidated net profit fell by 96% from a year ago 8.7 crore in the quarter ending December 31, 2022 (Q3FY23), from 218.5 crores a year ago. Consolidated revenue from operations, however, jumped 45% 7,764.4 crore from 5,360.9 crore a year ago.
