After couple filmed secretly in Noida hotel, OYO launches internal probe: Report

Noida:

OYO Rooms has launched an internal probe after Noida Police arrested two people who allegedly installed a hidden camera in a hotel room and filmed a couple, officials said on Saturday. Both the accused had booked the same room in Phase 3 police station area last month where they had kept a hidden camera before checking out.

Officials said that after a week, they booked the same room and took out the camera, which recorded the couple in an intimate position. Additional DCP (Central Noida) Saad Mian Khan said the duo made an attempt to extort and the couple threatened to release their video online. The accused Vishnu Singh and Abdul Wahab were arrested, the police also questioned the hotel staff regarding the incident, but their role is yet to be found.

“The hotel and its staff were not found to be involved in the incident so far. The accused couple had stayed at the hotel in the past and police are contacting guests who have stayed there in recent days to confirm if anyone else was found. Is it or not. Extortion,” ADCP Khan told PTI.

Meanwhile, there was no official comment from Oyo on the episode, but company affiliates said they were investigating the matter internally. A source told PTI, “Oyo does not operate any hotels or guest houses, it only lists verified properties on its platform and provides IT-based support to them.”

Police said an FIR has been registered under sections 420,386,506,467, 468, 471 and 120B of IPC and further investigation is on.
