America: Plane hits family building in New Hampshire; all the dies on the board

Keane: A small plane crashed into a New Hampshire building, killing two people on board and causing a major fire on the ground, officials said. A single-engine Beechcraft Sierra plane crashed Friday evening in a building north of Keene Dillent-Hopkins Airport in Keene, New Hampshire, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement Saturday. City officials said on their Facebook page that no one was injured in the building that was hit by the plane, but “the people on board were killed.”

“The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB will be in charge of the investigation and provide additional updates,” the FAA said.

Keene Mayor Mayor George Hansel told The Associated Press that two people on board the plane were killed, but they have not been identified. He said the plane hit a two-story barn attached to a multi-family apartment building. All eight people were evacuated from the apartment building due to the subsequent fire and have since been relocated. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

“We are very fortunate that in some ways the plane didn’t hit the part of the building where the people were,” he said. “It obviously could have been much worse but any loss of life is a tragedy.” Sean Calkins told WMUR-TV that he saw the fire while he was driving. “We were probably close to a mile away, and you could feel the heat from the fire,” Calkins said.
