All illegal apartments will be demolished: Karnataka Minister

Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka said on Tuesday that all illegally built apartments at Rajakaluve in Bengaluru city will be demolished.

On Rajkaluve encroachment, R Ashok said, “By next monsoon, we will have to clear all pending demolition… All apartments will be removed, as you saw in Noida. Action will be taken against officials and builders.”

“30-40 IT companies have encroached upon Rajakaluve in Bengaluru city and the apartments will be demolished without any bias,” he said.

The list of IT parks and developers encroaching SWD (stormwater drain) includes- Bagmane Tech Park and Purva Paradise in Mahadevapura, RBD at 3 locations, Wipro in Doddakanelli, Eco-Space in Bellandur, Gopalan and Diya School at several places Hoodie,” the BBMP said in a statement.

“Nalpad in Challaghatta is also a part of the list of IT parks and developers involved in SWD (storm drainage) encroachment,” it added.

He also said that Bengaluru floods and further course of action were discussed in the assembly.

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Monday informed the High Court that a recent survey had discovered 980 illegal buildings across the city.

The survey was conducted in response to a High Court order issued on September 19 in conjunction with a suo moto public interest litigation (PIL).

Meanwhile, the BBMP is carrying out demolition drive in illegal commercial and residential buildings in Mahadevapura area, following rain-induced floods in the city.

BJP MLA (MLA) Arvind Limbawali blamed illegal encroachment in Bengaluru for the floods.

“So we started removing the encroachments which will take at least 3 months. We will also address the demolition issues”, said Limbavali.

Karnataka Legislative Assembly member CT Ravi said the encroachment needs to be cleared on top priority.

In Mahadevpur zone, a campaign to remove encroachment was started on Monday by identifying the encroached areas of Raj canals (big drains).

Under this, 15 encroachments were removed on Monday in Mahadevpur zone which comes under the jurisdiction of BBMP.

Encroachment will also be done in Chellaghatta, Chinnappana Halli, Basavannanagar, Spicy Garden and SR of Basavanapura ward under Mahadevapur zone.

The BBMP said the encroachment area has been identified by the land surveyor on the Cambridge College campus and it is being cleared by JCB machines with the help of corporation officials, a team of marshals and police personnel.

Roads and internal flow canal including three encroached buildings in front of Raghamwa Super Market, four compound walls and the compound wall of Sai Eye Hospital have been cleared.

The walls of three premises, including Prestige’s vacant space in Chellaghatta area, a compound wall of Gopalan School and Mahaveer Apartment near Hoodi, have been cleared. The walls and roads of four campuses near the Spicy Garden (Munnekollu) will be cleaned.
