Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said that he will convene an all-party meeting regarding caste census in the state only after getting the opinion of his colleague. BJP,
“We held talks with political parties. I have asked the Deputy CM to talk to the leaders of his party (BJP). I have spoken to leaders of other political parties. After he (Deputy CM) talks to his party leaders and informs us, we will call an all-party meeting. I don’t think there is any scope for disagreement between political parties on this issue,” Nitish told the media after his weekly ‘Janta Ke Darbar Mein Chief Minister’ programme.
The CM also said that he wants leaders of all political parties to have a clear understanding on the issue. “There should be a consensus among every political party on how to conduct the caste census. I am making all the necessary preparations on how the headcount will be, how it will be done and how it will be done. When all the political parties reach a consensus, we will finalize the manner and procedure in the meeting and the state government will announce it.
The CM, who has been reiterating the demand for nationwide caste-based headcount during Census-2021, further said that this would benefit all social groups. “It’s a very valid matter. We’ll make it right so that no one gets left out.”
Nitish also said, “During the census, many people will tell their sub-castes and not their castes. The enumerators will be trained to look into the issues. I have informed the officials about every small and big thing. I am doing this right now.” I will not tell you how to conduct it. When the all-party meeting is called, I will tell everything.”
