All you need to know about ISRO’s new SSLV rocket

The India Space Research Organization (ISRO) has announced that it will launch the much-awaited new rocket, the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV), from its Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on August 7 at 9:18 am.

SSLV (Small Satellite Launch Vehicle) aims to cater to the market for launching small satellites into low earth orbits that emerged in recent years to meet the needs of developing countries, universities and private corporations for small satellites Huh.

All you need to know

It is the smallest vehicle weighing only 110 tonnes. It will take only 72 hours to integrate, whereas it takes 70 days for a launch vehicle.

It can carry satellites weighing 500 kg into low earth orbit during testing and testing polar satellite launch vehicle (PSLV) can launch satellites weighing 1000 kg.

It is perfectly suited for launching multiple microsatellites at a time and supports multiple orbital drop-offs.

Key features of SSLV are low cost, short turn-around time, flexibility to accommodate multiple satellites, launch-on-demand feasibility, minimum launch infrastructure requirements, etc.

In its first flight, SSLV With a maximum cargo carrying capacity of 500 kg, EOS 2 will be carrying one of India’s earth observation satellites which will have applications in mapping and development of various GIS applications.

It will have a mid-wavelength infrared camera and a long-wavelength infrared camera with a resolution of 6 metres. The 142 kg satellite EOS 2 will have a mission life of ten months. It was formerly known as Microsatellite 2A.

In its maiden flight itself, the SSLV will also carry azadi satiA satellite developed by 750 rural students from across the country, coordinated by SpaceKidz India, a space start-up.

ISRONew Space India Limited (NSIL), a newly created commercial firm of India, has been entrusted with the responsibility of meeting the requirement of the industry by mass production of SSLVs in India in partnership with the private sector through technology transfer.
