anyhow

The South was happy to see the Queen of Clubs lead from the West. Assuming that West also has the jack of clubs, South would have 10 tricks if he could keep his trump suit to a loser. It was not going to be that easy.

South took an early club lead with King and a low spade lead to the dummy’s aces, noting King’s fall from the east. One line of the play was to take your queen with a spade and then a diamond to the queen of the dummy. It will be successful if West holds either the King of Diamonds or the Jack of Clubs. Just before that plan began, the South saw a line of play that was even better.

Leaving Trump alone for the time being, the South led the heart less than the dummy, with the East winning with 10. The former did not lead any minors, so he continued with Ace of Hearts. South ruffed and led a club. West could have been rough, but it would have cost him his natural gait of Trump, so he gave up a heart. South won with dummy ace and continued with 10 clubs. East took the win with Jack leading another Heart, a ruff from the South.

South led his last club. The West could abdicate or ruff, but the South was annexed either way. Beautifully played!
