Apple partners with NGO for clean water management in India

Apple has partnered with environmental NGO Frank Waters to support better water, sanitation and hygiene in India. The pilot project will start in Anekal taluk, on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

According to a statement, “Apple is supporting the development of an innovative, scalable approach that strengthens local water management and decision-making, and expands equitable access to water quality data.”

Frank Water will survey homes and analyze multiple data sources to find out how water is used in the area. To do this, the NGO uses hydrological modeling and is developing a decision support process.

Together, Apple, Frank Water, and local partners aim to use enhanced data and expanded partnerships to demonstrate that collective water management, working together with businesses, is a model to be replicated in India and beyond how is it possible.

Apple also continues to work with the Applied Environmental Research Foundation (AERF) to preserve mangroves off the coast of India. “Since the partnership launched in 2021, local villagers have signed conservation agreements, helping over 200 marginal fishing community members in Roha, Pen and Alibaug blocks in Maharashtra’s Raigad district,” Apple’s According.

Under the agreements, village members receive ongoing support in exchange for the protection of privately owned mangrove forests. This effort is helping to transform the local economy while preserving the mangroves, keeping them intact and healthy.
