Arrest warrant issued for former Pakistan PM Imran Khan over remarks against woman judge – Times of India

New Delhi: Anu Islamabad The court on Saturday issued an arrest warrant against the former Pakistan PM Imran KHAN In connection with his controversial remarks against a woman judge during a public meeting.
The warrant was issued hours after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief filed an affidavit in the matter. Islamabad High Court in case of contempt additional district and sessions judge zeba chaudharySaying that he felt he had “probably crossed a threshold” at a public rally on 20 August.
The FIR covers four sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 189 (threatening injury to public servant), and 188 (public servant). Disobedience of order duly promulgated by the servant).
In the affidavit, Khan assured the court that he would do nothing in future that would hurt the dignity of any court and judiciary, especially the lower judiciary.
He also said that he will fully abide by what he said before the court in the last hearing and added that he is ready to take further action to satisfy the court in this regard.
The deposed prime minister further said that he is “ready to apologize” if the judge feels he has crossed the “red line”.
At a rally in Islamabad, Khan had warned Islamabad’s Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General and women magistrate to “not be spared” while vowing to register a case against him for allegedly torturing PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.
Addressing the rally, he said, “We will not spare the IG and DIG.” The former prime minister summoned Additional District and Sessions Judge Chowdhary, who granted Gill’s two-day physical remand at the request of the capital police, and said he should prepare himself as a case would be registered against him as well.
