Assam’s Badruddin Ajmal is nothing but “mouthpiece of BJP”: Jairam Ramesh

New Delhi:

Launching a scathing attack on AIUDF leader Badruddin Ajmal following his remarks about party leaders, the Congress on Wednesday dubbed him as the “mouthpiece of the BJP” and alleged that he “compromised” with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Was.

In a statement, Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said Ajmal had made “most unacceptable and completely bogus remarks” against party leaders in Assam.

Jairam Ramesh also said that Ajmal “has nothing to do with the UPA”.

Noting that the Congress and the AIUDF had fought the last assembly elections in Assam together, Ramesh said the “not easy” decision was taken in the belief that Mr Ajmal would be a consistent and reliable partner.

Ramesh said, “MP Badruddin Ajmal has made most unacceptable and completely bogus comments against the Congress leadership in Assam. These are clearly defamatory.”

“It is true that the Congress and the AIUDF fought the last assembly elections in alliance. It was not an easy decision for the Congress to take. But it was taken in the belief that Ajmal would be a consistent and reliable partner and who would Will strengthen secular forces in India.”

The Congress leader alleged that after the election results, “it became very clear that Mr Ajmal had made an understanding with the Chief Minister of Assam”.

“The two intermingled with the sole objective of maligning and defaming the Congress and its leadership.”

Ajmal had alleged that Congress leaders had links with Mr. Sarma and “packets” were received by him.

Jairam Ramesh said that Mr. Sarma and Mr. Ajmal have stepped up this latest attack “shaken by the extraordinary success of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra as well as the India Jodo Yatra-Assam”.

The Congress leader said, “Ajmal is nothing but a mouthpiece for the BJP like some other parties like AIMIM. He has nothing to do with the UPA as he claims.”
