At least 104 killed in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra, monsoon begins

According to the State Disaster Management Authority, at least 104 people have died in rain-related incidents in Maharashtra since the start of the monsoon season on June 1. Meanwhile, traffic on the Mumbai-Goa highway was diverted earlier this month following a landslide in the Parashuram Ghat section near Chiplun. Additionally, Gadchiroli district received an average of 20 mm of rain on Sunday.

The Godavari and Indravati rivers are flowing above the danger mark in the state, while three other rivers are flowing close to the danger mark, with 10,600 people being evacuated to safer places in Gadchiroli district, the report said. . The report said that teams of National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have been deployed in the district.

Meanwhile, at least 12 passengers were killed when a Maharashtra-bound bus fell into the Narmada river in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district on Monday. A senior government official gave this information. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra said that 15 people have been rescued. There were 12 people in the bus in Indore, he told reporters in Bhopal. Another official said that 30 to 32 people are believed to be in the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus.
