Attempts are being made to attack critical thinking by those in power: Minister

Local Self-Government and Excise Minister MB Rajesh has said the protest against historical and baseless statements by a group of history students is being misinterpreted as attempted murder by those in power.

He was inaugurating an event organized by the State Institute of Encyclopedic Publications th Here is the anniversary on Monday.

“An attempt is being made by the state to attack those advocating critical thinking and free expression of views. Today, we saw visuals of a group of history students protesting against unhistoric, baseless statements made by someone in power. [some years ago], But now it is being misunderstood as an attempt to murder,” said Mr Rajesh. He was referring to the allegations leveled by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan in relation to the incidents at the venue of the Indian History Congress in Kannur nearly three years ago.

The Minister appreciated the institute for translating knowledge from across the world into Malayalam through its publications. He said that its activities have led to democratization of knowledge. Writer M. Mukundan delivered the keynote address. Mayor Bina Philip and MLA Thottathil Raveendran were present along with others.
