So what if the party is not in power: SP leader arrested for threatening to ‘blowing up car with workers inside’

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Sangam Yadav was arrested after an audio clip went viral in which he can be heard flexing his political clout and purportedly threatening workers at an automobile service centre.

“So what if Akhilesh [Yadav’s] The government is not in power, I am still the national secretary; If my car is not repaired, I will blow up the car along with all the workers,” Sangam Yadav purportedly said in the audio clip.

According to the police complaint, Sangam Yadav last week sent his Swift car, which was involved in an accident, to Classic Motors, an authorized service center in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria, for repairs.

The surveyor of the insurance company had approved only the front portion of the car in the insurance claim, but Yadav wanted the entire car to be repaired. The insurance agency got the front part of the vehicle fixed, but the sides were not changed due to non-claim.

On Saturday (September 17), when the agency’s service advisor Vikram Patel called and informed Yadav about this, the SP leaders got enraged and started abusing and threatening the employee.

After the anger of the SP leader, Patel lodged a complaint with the police in Sadar Kotwali on 18 September. A case was registered under IPC sections 384 (extortion), 504 and 506 (criminal intimidation). CO City Shreyas Tripathi told that Yadav was then arrested.

The BJP has attacked the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party over this incident and demanded that Sangam Yadav be sacked from all party posts.

He said, ‘Even outside power, this is the real face of SP – Gundawadi Party. Sangam Yadav arrested Will Akhilesh Yadav sack this goon? No, because SP is a party of goons! Who will he sack?” BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawalla tweeted.
